an atheist friend and i were discussing Christianity and he said, "i dont
see anything wrong with Christianity, but i dont see any point in following it
either." ever since then, it bothered me. although i am a Christian and
follow as faithfully as i can, which, i admit, is not as much as i should, i
could not immediately answer him.
the first reason that came to mind was salvation from hell. however, if one does
not believe in hell, why would one want salvation from it? it is like buying
insurance for a house or car one does not own, or taking medicine for a disease
one does not have. on the other hand, if there is nothing wrong with
Christianity and since the Bible directly speaks of the existence and horrors of
hell, would not one believe in hell and therefore desire salvation from it?
another possible reason i reflected upon was the comfort and support Jesus
provides. whenever i feel troubled or stressed i find that turning to Him always
relaxes me. also, during church retreats i experience this peace because all i
need to think about is Him; worship always brings utmost joy that i never feel
at any other time. perhaps this draws the most people to Him: He will always be
with us, even though we may not feel His presence or even feel as if He
abandoned us. no person can play that role in our lives. yet how can i explain
this to someone who never experienced this? he would just say, "sure.
whatever." and not believe me.
since this friend of mine only believes what concrete evidence and logical
thinking proves, i find it difficult to reply to him. i do not have a vast
knowledge on this subject. i feel what i feel, and i trust the conscience,
friends, and family God gave me. how can i prove and explain why Christianity is
worth the undeniably hard work?
either one works for me. i like shoujo that is cute and funny with strong
character development. shounen should have an interesting plot, cool characters,
and good fight scenes! but both can be repetetive. most shoujo have a guy and a
girl who end up together, or more than one couple. shounen have similar fight
scenes after a while. both have similar character types between series, like
naruto and bleach. and shoujo with a heroine who is kinda dense and never sees
that this certain guy or these certain guys like her. and it gets so
predictable.
sorry if there has already been a thread about this...i searched but nothing
came up
one of the best mangaka out there is CLAMP [although technically they are a
group but whatever] i've read/am reading most of their series...currently my
favorites are card captor sakura, angelic layer, and tsubasa reservoir
chronicle...the art [all the tiny details!] is amazing and the plot is good
too...the characters are cool and undeniably believable...they really make you
wish they were true or that you could enter the world and live there
what are your favorite CLAMP series and why?
i think most series do teach morals...its just another form of
expression...manga is just like novels...they just happen to have pictures that
go along with the story...the fact that they have strong themes like
"normal" books is part of the reason they are so popular
naruto, fullmetal alchemist, fruits basket, card captor sakura, rurouni kenshin,
samurai champloo [dont quite know what its about but im interested in finding
out]
i dont like hentai...but sometimes its part of the plot...usually though it has
nothing to do with the plot...i'd rather there was no hentai...but theres not
much i can do about it since there are too many people who like it and want it
in manga *shrug* i just sorta cover it up with my hand and read on...maybe they
should publish manga with censored hentai for those who want to know what
happens but would rather not see hentai...like me
wow i never really noticed that...then again im like a half noob to manga in
that i dont really associate with other manga people...i just like to read
it...so maybe since im not a hardcore fan i dont get extremely angry. i do get
pissed when people refer to manga as anime tho. theres a huge difference but
they just dont seem to see it.
i suppose if you really love something you will defend it from anything. its
like how boyfriends, husbands, etc. are really protective of their girlfriends
and wives [and vice versa] same thing with lord of the rings and star wars fans.
of all the anime i've watched [which isnt that much] i like the manga better.
for one thing, when the anime people are translating the manga into an anime
sometimes they dont put in the action that comes between each picture. you also
lose some of the mangaka's original style. anime people tend to be rather bad at
making their own storyline, so fillers and their own ending really hurt the
series.
hitsugaya toshiro from bleach
kuchiki byakuya from bleach
edward elric from fullmetal alchemist
alphonse elric from fullmetal alchemist
kakashi from naruto
uchiha itachi from naruto
CLAMP omg theyre so freaking good at drawing O.O i wish i could draw like that

and the clothing and hair are so detailed and the characters always look good
fullmetal alchemist | ed and al try to transmute their mother back to life, but
al looses his whole body and ed his arm and leg and it doesnt even work
TTTTT_____TTTTTT
YES! =D hana kimi is my favorite shoujo series [excluding clamp stuff ^^] its so
awesome! my favorite character is umeda hokuto-sensei and his dad [azuma] they
look so cool! and because umeda-sensei is so concerned with mizuki...i wish he
wasnt gay tho ^^*
yes of course! we should be able to enjoy [as much as possible, i know there are
just some things we wont understand] what the japanese directors wanted his/her
japanese audience to enjoy! if you dont like it, just dont watch it
2 posters my aunt drew [she's an emerging artist in taiwan! so cool!] and other
random things she gave me
posters from naruto and tsubasa reservoir chronicle
still collecting! ^^
fullmetal alchemist [anime] i really loved the manga so i decided to watch the
anime...i was so disappointed
because they took the funniest parts! in the beginning too! i know they had to
make up their own ending because the mangaka only releases a chapter a month,
but gah! they could have kept consistent with the manga until they caught
up...but its better than the naruto filler episodes
im not even gonna go there
i have mixed feelings. while i watch it im eager to find out what happens...but
then i realize that it ended and there are no more to watch/read...maybe thats
why i tend to like long series ^^;

what are your favorite CLAMP series and why?
yeah especially all the futuristic mangas! like chobits and angelic layer...but maybe the fantasy mangas are less likely to happen...
totally agree...i dont think i'll ever get tired of anime/manga...there are so many minor series to discover and new series to follow

manga because its usually the original, so you get the mangaka's original style rather than the anime people's copy of the original
